How to Sow the Word-Seed

FOUNDATION STATEMENT: As believers we have to know how to sow the word properly so that we can reset our belief and see results in our lives – Joshua 1:8

I. 8 keys to meditating the Word (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:1-3)

A. As you expose yourself to the Word of God your faith will grow, develop, & change (Romans 10:17)

1. As you see the Word, hear the Word, and say the Word you’re sending the seed of the Word to the ground of heart and a new belief is being developed

a. Faith can’t come and your belief cannot be changed if you’re not seeing the Word, hearing the Word, and saying the Word

1) If you want to see change in your life then you must change your belief and to change your belief you must send the word down these pathways for that to happen

b. If you’re not seeing the Word, hearing the Word, or saying the Word you cannot expect to see the word come to pass in your life

2. Meditation – To utter a sound, the act of thoughtful deliberation with the implication of speaking to oneself, to speak, to imagine, to talk, to speak, to study, to ponder

B. 8 Keys to meditating the Word

1. Separation is key in meditation

a. Jesus separated himself (Matthew 14:23, 26:36, Mark 6:46, Luke 6:12, 9:28)

1) Matthew 6:6 – Enter your prayer closet, shut the door, turn the cell phone off and separate yourself

b. Separate yourself from distractions

1) You want to do this with purpose, you want to do it effectively, and you want to give it your full attention

2) This is the process that’s going to change my life and I don’t need to be distracted during this process

2. Speak the word out loud in your meditation time (Proverbs 18:21)

a. You need to hear yourself say it

1) Meditation – To utter a sound with the implication of speaking to oneself

b. One of the most powerful roles that confessing the Word does is it changes your belief inside (Mt 21:21)

1) If Words are seeds then saying is sowing

2) We always talk about how our words can change our lives and that’s so very true. However, until you words change the inside of your heart, then will not change the outside of your life

a) You aren’t speaking to the mountain outside yet, you’re speaking to the mountain inside

3. Always meditate the Word with purpose – Don’t just go through the motions (Acts 11:23, James 5:17)

a. Acts 11:23 – Meditate the Word with purpose of heart

1) Meditate – The act of thoughtful deliberation

2) Ask yourself what’s my purpose here? Then say, my purpose here is to develop my faith tree in this area because I believe that my life is coming out of my heart, and if I change what I believe I can change my life.

b. James 5:16 – Meditate the word with zeal, passion, and purpose

1) Give your focus and your attention to meditating the Word

4. Apply the Word to yourself personally

a. Acts 10:34 – God is no respecter of persons

b. This is God talking to me, this is God’s promise to me, this is what God has provided for me

5. Place yourself in agreement with what the Word says about you

a. Make a decision of quality to agree with the word by faith (John 20:25)

1) I agree with this by faith

b. To believe something begins as an act of your will

6. Remember your blood covenant and realize that God cannot lie (Hebrews 6:17)

a. God stood in blood and promised this to me; He swore by Himself where this is concerned

b. It’s impossible for God to lie; this must be true

7. Ponder how the Word changes your situation

a. Knowing that this is true how does that change my situation and my attitude?

8. See yourself as the Word says you are

a. Hebrews 11:1 – Faith is now, see yourself with it, see it as being already done

b. James 1:21-This Bible is a mirror & its reflecting back to me my present state. It’s reflecting back to me what I am today, not what I’m going to become some day

II. Patience is a major key in working the Kingdom of God system

A. A part from patience fruit will not be brought forth (Luke 8:13)

1. Patience – Constancy, Endurance, Continuance, Perseverance, Consistency

a. Hebrews 6:12 – Minus the patience there’s no inheriting the promise

b. Hebrews 10:35-36-Don’t fling away your tree; you’re fruit is with your tree, you’re results are with your faith

c. John 8:32-It’s required that you continue in the Word before it can make you free

d. James 1:2-4 – When patience has done it’s work then you’ll want nothing

B. Why do people not reap?

1. People don’t reap because they faint (Galatians 6:9)

a. Faint – To weaken, relax, have one’s strength relaxed, to be enfeebled through exhaustion, to grow weak, grow weary, be tired out

2. People faint because their strength is small (Proverbs 24:10)

a. When you’re strength is small you can’t endure & persevere and resist (James 4:7)

3. People’s strength is small because they don’t feed the spirit on the Word of God

a. When you don’t feed your spirit on the word you have no joy and when you have no joy you have no strength (Jeremiah 15:11, Nehemiah 8:10)

4. People don’t feed their spirit on the word of God because:

a. They’ve been distracted away from the Word by the evil report

b. Slothfulness and Laziness

C. The requirements to see the seed come to pass

1. If you don’t understand the word-seed, Satan will take what’s sown in your heart (Matthew 13:19)

a. You can hear the word on prosperity or healing, but if you don’t understand the word on prosperity or healing it can be stolen from you

1) EX: You have to understand that you ARE healed, you have to understand that healing is God’s will for everybody, you have to understand that God wants it for you right now

2) EX: You have to understand that purpose for prosperity, u have to understand that you’re redeemed from poverty, you have to understand tithing

b. When you don’t understand the word, you are a candidate to have that word stolen from you

2. You have to be committed (Mark 4:16-17)

a. Inspiration without commitment won’t produce results

b. Luke 8:12 – Fruit is brought forth with patience

c. James 1:2-4 – When patience has done it’s work then you’ll want nothing

d. John 8:32-It’s required that you continue in the Word before it can make you free

e. Hebrews 6:12 – Through faith and patience you get the harvest

3. You have to give the word priority (Mark 4:19)

a. Prov 13:13-People who continually chose things over the Word see destruction

b. You can’t be distracted by the cares of the world

c. You can’t desire other things more than you desire the word
