FOUNDATION STATEMENT: As a believer for you to walk in the commandment of love you are first of all going to have to develop a mind that is set on the commandment of love. You got to get to a place where this commandment is on your mind 24/7. -2 Peter 3:1
I. The Way of Love will lead you to the destination called God’s best
A. The way of love will lead you to the destination where the Word is working in your life; a destination called working Word (Matt 22:40)
B. The way of love will lead you out of fear, out of oppression, and into victory. (1 John 4:18, Isaiah 54:14, 1 Corinthians 13:8); to the destination called Victory all the Time.
C. The way of love will lead you to the destination of manifested ways, manifested zoe, and manifested Word (John 14:21)
1. A consciousness of love that will lead people to the destination called manifestation
D. The way of love will lead you to days of Heaven on the Earth (Deuteronomy 11)
E. Where do want to go? What destination do you want to reach?
1. Then travel the way that’s going to take you there no matter if you feel like it or not
II. You cannot consistently walk in the way love without first of all having a mind that is constantly set on the commandment of love.
A. 2 Peter 3:1-2-I’m not saying something that you haven’t heard before. You’ve heard this before. I’m saying this to remind you of it. I’m saying this to bring it from the back of your mind, to the front of your mind.
1. Stir up – to get up, arouse, stimulate, awake, raise
a. I’m writing this 2 get 2 something that is already in ur mind & make it active again
2. I am reminding u of this & arousing this in ur thinking, so that you’ll be conscious of it
a. Remembrance – reminder, memory, putting in remembrance
1) By reminding you of this, I am arousing this in your thinking
3. Develop a consciousness of the COL & your life will never be the same
B. U have to develop a COL consciousness. What specifically are we being conscious of?
1. It’s not that you don’t know this commandment, you’re just not conscious of it in your life and it is costing you
a. This is not something that you haven’t heard before, but is something that you’re not conscious of throughout your day
b. Everything that I do, say, or think, I’m doing it, saying it, and thinking it being mindful of this commandment
1) Everything I do, I do it with a consciousness of this commandment of love – Constantly ask yourself, “Does this minister love to the Father?”
2) When this commandment becomes priority one in your life and it’s at the forefront of your thinking you will step over into an area where everything you think, everything you do, and everything you say is driven and motivated by this commandment
2. One of the main reasons why so many believers just blatantly violate the commandment of love is because it never crosses their minds
a. If you’re ever going to become proficient in keeping this commandment then you first of all must get it on the forefront of your mind
C. The 1st step 2 keeping the COL is 2 set ur mind on it & become conscious of it
1. Your thoughts determine the way that you go and if you are never conscious of the commandment of love, you’ll never go the way of love (Isaiah 55:8-11)
a. Our ways cannot be God’s ways until our thoughts are God’s thoughts
1) Because it’s a higher way, it’s going to lead to a higher destination
b. To do the things of the spirit you’re first all going to have to set your mind on the things of the spirit (Romans 8:5)
1) AMP-For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit and are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.
c. There is protocol here to changing actions in my life; there is divine order that says to change you’re doing you first of all have to change your thinking
1) If you want to walk in the love of God you first of all have to have a mindset that is on the Love of God
2. You take the time on purpose to set your mind on the commandment of love the way you set your alarm clock to wake you up in the morning
a. Develop a consciousness of the commandment of love: 1) What it is 2) The results that come from keeping it 3) The results that come from violating it
D. Through meditation & confession of this commandment you place it at the forefront of your thinking
1. To keep this commandment of love you are going to have to keep your mind set on it day and night (Joshua 1:8)
a. You meditate the Word day and night and it sets your thinking and then your thinking determines your actions
1) Meditate – utter a sound, the act of thoughtful deliberation with the implication of speaking to oneself, to speak, to imagine, to talk
b. If I will, on purpose, give my mind to this commandment day & night then I’ll do it
1) This is how you’re going to do my word Joshua; you’re going to meditate on it day and night and get your mind set on it and then your thoughts will determine your ways
c. You make your way prosperous by making your thinking prosperous, you make your thinking prosperous by meditating the prosperous Word, and when your way is prosperous that will lead you to the destination called success
2. James 1:24 – The person who continues in looking at and meditating on the commandment of love will be the doer of it
E. This commandment of love is unnatural to human nature and to the flesh; consequently to do it in our lives there must be a renewal of your mind (Romans 12:1-3)
1. The commandment is so far away from what’s natural that to walk in it proficiently you’re going to have to renew your mind to it
a. The commandment of love goes totally opposite of what’s natural to do
2. You can’t transform into this specimen of love without first of renewing your mind to the commandment of love
a. Transformation in life, starts with transformation in thinking
b. Transformation is dependent upon the words that you allow 2 dictate ur thinking
3. The process of renewing your mind goes like this; you say something different to think something different until you don’t have to say something different to think something different any more
III. It is vitally important that your mind be set on this commandment
A. The costs of you not walking the way of love
1. You cannot be in disagreement with Love and be in agreement with Word
a. If love is not working in your life then nothing in this Word works (Matthew 22:40)
b. 1 step in opposition to the love of God is 1 step into the word not working for you
2. When you violate this commandment of love you are into fear and accessible for the enemy to oppress you (1 John 4:18, Isaiah 54:14)
a. One step out of love is one step into fear and one step into fear is all Satan needs to cause havoc in your life
3. It’s vital that you develop a mindset on the love of God because if your mind isn’t set on love you won’t do love and if you won’t do this commandment of love the word won’t work for you and you’ll be oppressed by the devil
a. Not being conscious of this COL is the most expensive thing in the universe
B. You have to begin to develop a love commandment consciousness where you are conscious of the commandment of love 24 hours a day 7 days a week (2 Cor 5:14)
1. If you don’t develop a love consciousness you are in danger of living a life where you continually violate the commandment of love and it goes unnoticed, unrecognized, and unrepented of
a. When you violate that commandment and do not repent of it, then the Word isn’t working in your life and you’re over into fear and accessible to be oppressed
1) The Word can’t work for you if the thing that makes the Word work isn’t working
b. You got believers out there who are constantly violating the commandment of love & their hearts & minds have become so hard to it that they don’t even realize that they are violating it. Then they get little to no results, they pray and don’t see the manifestation, they sow and don’t see a harvest.
2. The Gift of Repentance (1 John 1:9)
a. When this commandment of love is on your mind and you violate it, you’ll immediately catch it, repent on the spot, and now you’re living on the love line where the Word is working for you, faith is working for you, the anointing is working for you, and you’re seeing manifestations of the Word of God like you’ve never seen before because for the first time love is working proficiently in your life.
1) You practice repenting on the spot and reverse the curse you spoke and speak the blessing over those people and now you’re living on the love line where the Word works praise God
b. Keeping the commandment love will bring manifestations of the Word (Jn 14:21)
IV. You’re going to develop a mindset that’s working to keep u in the commandment of love
A. Developing a love consciousness (Deuteronomy 11:13-21)
1. Lay up these words in your heart and in your soul
a. Mark you heart and mark your mind with this commandment
b. Put this commandment in your heart and on your mind
1) You do that by looking at it, hearing it, and saying it
2) You flood yourself with this commandment to the point that it comes out in everything you think, everything you do, and say; Mk 10-It came out of his eyes
2. Write it on your hand as a sign and Stamp them on your forehead
a. Put cards and reminders all over the place
3. Teach them to your children
a. This is what you teach you’re children
4. Speak of it when you sit down, speak of it when you’re in your car, speak of it before you lie down, and speak of it when you first rise up
a. Last thing out of my mouth at night & first thing out of my mouth in the morning
5. Write them upon your door posts of your house and upon your gates
B. The reminding ministry of the Holy Spirit (John 14:26)
1. One part of Holy Spirit’s ministry is to bring to your remembrance what Jesus spoke
a. You have to receive that part of his ministry by faith
b. Set a working a agreement with him
2. Jesus said Matt 22:37-40 so the Holy Spirit’s job is to bring that to my remembrance
C. You set that boundary of love in your mind first and it will be set in your life (2 Cor 5:14)
1. Constrains (synecho) – to cover, to crowd against, to guard, to hold in custody, to compel, to urge on, held, keep in, stops, throngs
2. My mindset on love constrains me
a. If I don’t think outside of love, I won’t go outside of love
V. Root yourself in love by setting your mind to it and keeping it set
A. Everything that we do we do in love (1 Corinthians 16:14)
1. (AMP) Let everything you do be done in love
a. For everything that we do to be in love, then everything we think must be in love
2. Philippians 2:3 – Do nothing outside of love
a. To do nothing outside of love, we must first of all think nothing outside of love
B. You got to root yourself, ground yourself, and take your stance in the Love of God and absolutely refuse to come out (Ephesians 3:14)
